After we wrapped up the ProQuo assignment, we asked the ten winners to upload their videos all over the Interwebs and we’d give a little extra scratch to the most-viewed videos. We’ve been keeping tabs on them for over a month and now we have some solid numbers. All told, they got 154,000+ views in aggregate. Wow!
The winners are:
kahit 1227’s ID Theft with 82,306 views! Nice work, guys. They earn the top prize!
The next top places in order of views go to:
ZackScott’s Sick Mailbox with 31,508 views
ThreeVolts’ Too Much Junk with 11,581 views
MattyGahan’s Dirty Mail Lady with 8,698 views
Great work everyone! We’re very excited that we got such a great turned.
I know it’s been a long time in coming, but we’re proud to announce that our client Bud Light purchased not one, but TWO more videos from our community for their DudeMadness website. That makes FOUR total videos where each of those creators took home $5000. Thanks, guys!
We’re afraid to say that this might just be the end of our fabulous Bud Light assignment. But fear not! We have many more great assignments in store, ready to launch. Stay tuned!
Man, crazy stunts. You just can’t go wrong with them! Yes, this is totally fake. But how cool is it?
It’s actually a ‘viral video’ for Gatorade. Not sure how the drink fits into this, but I just love watching it again and again. And sharing with you. Ergo - she’s viral, baby!
Many apologies for the tardiness of this announcement, but the decision was delayed by unforseen circumstances that were beyond our control. That being said, it is with great pride, relief, joy and happiness that we bring you the best of the Net 10 No Evil assignment from earlier this spring.
Congratulations and the top prize of $5000 are going to our friend…
Have you looked at our new Road Trip assignment? It’s almost summer and you know what that means! Wouldn’t it be great to have XLNTads pay for your trip? C’mon and enter. You don’t have to actually shoot your road trip for this assignment - just tell us where, how and why you’ll be traveling in an interesting video. We’ll pick the best, and send them on their way!
If you have any questions, post them in the comments here, and we’ll answer them right away. Thanks!
Way back before XLNTads even launched, we ventured up to New York City to participate in the 07/07/07 YouTube Gathering. We had a blast, so we’re excited to have another meet up in our hometown this summer! We’re going to be sure to attend on July 12, 2008 at Independence Park here in Philly!
We hope those of you in the near vicinity will come and join us for good times, new friends and great video. It’s always nice to meet folks in person after seeing their mugs on a tiny box on the computer screen. Can’t wait to see ya!
(by the way, while we do like the word, we don’t say Yo! that much in Philly… haha)
After a long deliberation (man, this was a tough one!), we came up with the three videos that are picking up the $5000 financing from us to develop their series. Those three are:
One of our awesome creators, Bill Pouty of ThreeVolts (makers of one of the great finalists on the ProQuo assignment) was interviewed on the all-video-contest blog VidOpp.com today. He’s got some great pointers about the video contest world and his take on production. Recommended reading, to be sure. And by the way, while you’re there, subscribe! - VidOpp is a great resource.
Here’s a quote from the piece:
Q. What advice do you have for future video contest entrants?
I would say shoot a lot, do something novel, that’s original, or just don’t do anything. Do comedy, it’s a brave new world, and there are lots of new ways to make money.
This video was all the rage around the Interwebs last week. Turns out, it was a fake. It’s a commercial to promote the director, Timur Bekmambetov’s new film! Crazy, huh?
But man, it sure got me thinkin’… I bet you could to a lot of neat stuff with that ’security camera’ look. Which reminds me, this band made an entire music video with other people’s actual security cameras!
One of my favorite blogs on the web is NewTeeVee.com. I read it every day (and so should you!). They always have great coverage of the online video world as it evolves and changes.
Today, they’re launching their new Station that will be highlighting awesome new videos that people are talking about. You’ll never be out of the loop on all those crazy viral vids anymore. Plus you can throw your two cents into the mix.
One of the things I’m most excited about is that they decided to include a Commercials tab in the channel where they will be showing off some of the latest, greatest viral ads. Hopefully we’ll be seeing some of your work there, soon!
There’s a great AP article by Jim Salter floating around the media today that talks about beer companies using viral videos to promote their brands. It’s a growing trend!
And they very nearly, almost mentioned us… Haha. Here’s the quote:
Today, Anheuser-Busch is using viral ads to expand on its TV “Dude” campaign (created by members of XLNTads.com!). Other beer makers also use Web ads as part of broader marketing efforts…
And just a heads up - now’s as good a time as any - Bud Light just bought two more of your videos! I’ll have a full blog post to announce the two they bought and share that great news with you. Stay tuned!
We’re excited about the blossoming trends in consumer-generated advertising (after all, that’s why we’re here, workin’ hard for you guys!), so it’s great to see Conan O’Brian throwing his own video contest. Well, okay, he’s lampooning it, but hey, it could happen!
I don’t really know how I would classify this ad, but it sure is funny. And cute. And ingenious. And easy to make. I know it’s not in English, but you’ll get it.
We’ve been watching the Searching for Love submissions all week and going back and forth about which ones were our three favorites. We haven’t been able to agree quite yet.
After discussing your videos and showing them to some of our brand clients, we’ve got a good feel for what is salable to them and what they feel confortable sponsoring and buying. We recognize that there are some small things we’ll need to change in these webisodes to make them more appealing to our brand partners. So we’re communicating with our finalists what those changes should be and asking them to complete those changes over the next couple of days.
We decided to spend some extra time because we really want to come to our clients with the best possible work. We’re working hard for you guys to make sure we’re selling the best possible shows we know you can make.
That being said, these are the seven finalists that we’re going to boil down to three for the $5000 development deal:
